Welcome to the Albayan Schools app. We are committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of students. This policy describes what data we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it.

By using the app, you agree to the terms of this policy. If you disagree with any provision, please stop using the app and contact your school administration.

2. Who We Are

Albayan Schools is a multi-tenant educational management platform operated independently by each school. Each school controls its own data and is the primary data controller.

3. Data We Collect

a. Student Data

• Full name, date of birth, gender, student number
• Profile photo
• Contact information (phone, address)
• Emergency contacts
• Medical information (allergies, medications, health conditions)
• Academic records (enrollment, grades, attendance, assignments)
• Educational content usage data (viewing time, completion percentage)

b. Parent/Guardian Data

• Full name, email, phone number, national ID
• Gender, occupation, workplace
• Profile photo
• Notification preferences

c. Instructor Data

• Full name, email, phone, date of birth, gender
• Employee number, hire date
• Specialization, qualifications, professional bio
• Uploaded professional documents

d. Account Data (All Users)

• Email address and password (hashed)
• Role and language preference
• Last login timestamp
• Authentication token for the mobile app

e. Device Data

• Push notification device token (Expo Push Token)
• Platform type (iOS / Android)

f. Usage Data

• IP address when viewing educational content (for security and audit purposes)
• Audit logs for enrollment operations and data changes

g. Financial Data

• Invoices and payments linked to the student
• Payment method and receipt number (we do not store credit card details)

4. How We Use Your Data

• Operating school management services (attendance, grades, assignments, schedules)
• Communication between teachers, parents, and students
• Sending push notifications and school alerts
• Monitoring student academic performance
• Managing invoices and payments
• Improving system security and auditing operations

We do not use your data for commercial or advertising purposes.

5. Sharing Data with Third Parties

We do not sell or share your data with third parties for commercial purposes. We use the following services solely to operate the app:

• Expo (Expo Push Notifications): To deliver push notifications to your device. Expo receives only the device token and notification content.
• Google Firebase (FCM): To deliver notifications on Android devices.

We may disclose data if required by law or court order.

6. Data Storage and Security

• Each school's data is stored in an isolated, dedicated database on our servers.
• All communications are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt.
• Authentication data on mobile devices is stored in Expo Secure Store (encrypted).
• Sensitive files are stored in private storage not accessible to the public.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for the duration of the school's subscription. Upon account deletion or subscription cancellation, data is retained for 90 days before permanent deletion, unless the school requests immediate deletion.

8. Your Rights

• Access: You have the right to request a copy of your personal data.
• Correction: You have the right to request correction of inaccurate data.
• Deletion: You have the right to request deletion of your data (subject to legal requirements).
• Objection: You have the right to object to the processing of your data in certain cases.

9. Children's Privacy

This app is used in educational environments and includes data of minors. We do not collect children's data directly — students are registered by school administration with parental consent. We do not use children's data for any purpose outside the educational service.

10. Push Notifications

The app requests your permission to send push notifications. You can revoke this permission at any time from your device settings. Upon logout, your device token is automatically deleted from our servers.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes via the app or email. Your continued use of the app after an update constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
